Fireworks display will be highlight of Leesburg Fourth of July celebration

A baseball game, water ski show, live music, plenty of food, family activities and the area’s most spectacular fireworks display are all part of Leesburg’s upcoming Fourth of July Celebration.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at Venetian Gardens. The water ski show starts at 7:30 p.m. and Zambelli Fireworks will present a special fireworks display choreographed to music at 9 p.m. Viewing areas are available all around the park.

A boat tailgate party will be located between Monkey Island and the boat ramp at Venetian Cove Marina. A free Kid’s Play Zone will include inflatables, face painting, balloon artist and photo booth. Food vendors will serve up hamburgers, funnel cakes and more. Entertainment and vendors, including the Kids Zone, will be located at Ski Beach.

The Leesburg Lightning – two-time champions of the Florida Collegiate Summer League – will challenge the Winter Garden Squeeze starting at 5 p.m. at Pat Thomas Stadium. The stadium also provides ideal seating to watch the fireworks. The city splash pad in Rogers Park will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the standard admission fee of $2.

Since event activities will be held at Ski Beach, there is no public parking in that area this year.

Drivers are encouraged to use convenient sites north of Dixie Avenue including the ballfield at the corner of Canal and Dixie and the lot by the shuffleboard courts on Second Street as well as the LRMC Medical Plaza on the south side of Dixie. Space is also available throughout downtown Leesburg including the parking garage at Main and Palmetto streets.

The Leesburg Police Department asks that all pedestrians cross Dixie Avenue only at the traffic lights at Canal Street or Ninth Street. Crossing guards will be stationed at these intersections.
