A suspect was arrested in the emergency room at UF Health Leesburg Hospital after allegedly stealing a car in Ocala.
James Marion Brady, 38, of Silver Springs, was tracked down at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the lobby of the ER where he had “a white blanket over his head,” according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He was being sought by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a stolen silver 2004 Honda CR-V SUV.
The owner of the vehicle said his daughter’s cell phone was in the vehicle and they had been able to track it to the hospital in Leesburg. Brady was in possession of the vehicle’s key. The vehicle was found in the hospital parking lot.
“While on scene, I was advised by nursing staff that the defendant needed to be admitted for further medical evaluation,” the officer wrote in the arrest report.
The report did not indicate the reason for the medical evaluation.
Brady is a facing a charge of theft of a motor vehicle.
