Rheda Harbison Griner, 87, of Leesburg passed away June 12, 2021.

She was born October 23, 1933 in Lawrence County, TN to Samuel Fernando Harbison and Maude A. née Laurence Harbison. Rheda moved to Florida at the age of 3 and to Leesburg at age 14 where she resided until her death.

She retired from Skeen Elementary where she worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for 30 years and prior worked as an Operator for the Florida Telephone Corp. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Leesburg. Rheda loved to cook and always had a meal ready for company. She was especially known for her Rice Krispy treats which were prepared for any and all occasions. She lived her life with a grateful heart and always looked for beauty in everything.

Survivors include: 2 sons: James A. “Jay” Griner, Jr of Eustis and Timmons S. “Tim” Griner (Heather) of Mt. Dora: daughter Rheda Gail Shumate (Larry) of Lady Lake; 7 grandchildren: Jeremy Holt, JAnna Fickett, Larah Sheppard, Jameson Shumate, Linsey Kincaid, Emily Hyatt and Cara Ruger; 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband James A “Jim” Griner in 2014 and her 8 siblings.

A visitation and viewing will be held at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg on Thursday June 17, 2021 from 5-7 PM with a Celebration of Life Service the following day, Friday June 18, 2021 at Good News Church in Leesburg beginning at 11 AM with Pastor John Blake officiating.
