Ray J. Isherwood

Leesburg – Ray J. Isherwood, 86, of Leesburg, FL passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Beloved father to Conrad and Chris. Loving grandfather to Ashley and Eric. Adored great-grandfather to Sofia. Dearest husband to the late June Isherwood, who passed away on March 6 2009, after 42 years of marriage.

Ray led a very interesting life and traveled all over the world. Born in Bromwich, England February 8, 1935, graduated the Royal School of Mines then emigrated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in the early 1960’s. He truly enjoyed traveling back to England, where he spent time with his dearest friends for the occasional football match and of course, the pub.

Ray had an accomplished career as a metallurgic engineer, where he had the opportunity to experience the world with family, moving from Canada to California, Colorado, and all over the world before retiring to Florida in 1997.

He was a member of the local gentleman’s drink club in Leesburg and was once an avid golfer. He could be seen from time to time fishing his golf balls out of the sand traps, or wrestling alligators in the waters of Pennbrooke Fairways. He also enjoyed many other activies, like painting.

Long known for his carefree outlook on life and inappropriate sense of humor, Ray will be missed by all.

A private memorial will be held by the family, to honor the wishes of Ray and his family.
