17-year-old arrested with loaded gun after breaking Leesburg’s curfew law

A 17-year-old was arrested with a loaded gun after breaking Leesburg’s curfew ordinance.

The male teen was with two 18-year-olds walking at 3 a.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of 14th Street, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Officers asked to search their fanny packs, due to the teens walking out of an area that has had car burglaries. The 17-year-old opened his fanny pack and the black Taurus G2C 9mm handgun was immediately spotted by an officer. He claimed he had purchased the weapon for $250 off Snapchat.

He was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor.
