Leesburg man arrested after dispute involving a woman at an internet cafe

A Leesburg man was arrested on a battery charge after a dispute involving a woman at an internet cafe.

James Andrew Carroll, 45, was traveling in a vehicle which was pulled over at about 2 a.m. at Lakes Boulevard and U.S. Hwy. 441 by Leesburg police. He was being sought in connection with a battery which had occurred at the Joy Internet Casino in Tavares.

Carroll had attempted to talk to a woman who was sitting in another man’s vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Carroll and the other man began to “tussle,” the report said. The other man had suffered a small laceration in the middle of his forehead. Carroll had suffered a small abrasion on his left shoulder and the palm of his right hand.

Carroll was arrested on a charge of battery. He was booked at the Lake County Jail. As he was being booked at the jail, additional charges were added for violating his probation on previous drug charges.
