A Leesburg man was arrested after he was caught with pills his doctor refused to prescribe for him.
David Wayne McLeod Jr., 35, was driving a red pickup truck at 7:39 p.m. Thursday in Eustis when he was pulled over for a non-functioning taillight, according to an arrest report from the Eustis Police Department.
A marijuana blunt was found in the truck’s ashtray, but McLeod indicated he has a medical marijuana card. The officer reminder McLeod that he could not smoke marijuana while operating a vehicle.
A search of the truck turned up 14 Xanax pills. McLeod admitted he did not have a prescription, and said his doctor had refused to prescribe the drug for him. However, McLeod had a bottle of Oxycodone which had been prescribed for him.
He was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
His mother arrived at the scene of his arrest and drove his pickup home.
