A Leesburg man is accused of stealing two Amazon packages off a doorstep last week while out on bond on a car theft charge.

Bobby Fredrick Bryant, 35, of 119 N. Truett St., was charged with second-degree petit theft (second offense) and unarmed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, along with having his bond revoked for his arrest April 16 for grand theft of a motor vehicle.

The theft happened May 14 at a residence on Louis Street.  On May 17, the victim called Leesburg Police and reported the man who was caught on video taking the packages – later identified as Bryant – was standing outside the Deluxe Motel, 113 N. 14th St, according to the police report.

The officer viewed the video of the burglary and confirmed the man in custody was Bryant, and Bryant was the suspect in the burglary. Bryant was positively identified by a tattoo of a bee on his left forearm, according to the report.

After being read his Miranda warning, Bryant said he couldn’t recall the incident on May 14 but said he was with a woman last month who stole a package off a doorstep. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Lake County Jail, where he’s being held on $11,000 bond. Bryant is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on June 14.
