A 35-year-old Leesburg woman had heroin on her when she was picked up by police on multiple active warrants in a store parking lot Tuesday afternoon.
Kathryn Amanda Jane Morrow, of 1305 Sunshine Ave., was charged with possession of a controlled substance (heroin) without a prescription and possession of drug equipment along with three warrants.
A Leesburg Police officer saw Morrow walking south across Main Street near High Street towards the 7 Stars discount store. The officer recognized Morrow and was aware of her prior criminal history and drug usage. He ran her information through the computer in his patrol vehicle and saw she had warrants for violating her probation for possession of methamphetamine and heroin, according to the police report.
The officer stopped Morrow as she was getting into her vehicle in the store parking lot. Once the warrants were confirmed, Morrow was arrested and searched. Inside her backpack was a clear zippered pouch containing two used syringes, a loaded syringe, a rope, and a small clear plastic bag containing a brown powdery substance, the report said.
Also in the backpack were two butane torch style lighters commonly used during the consumption of illegal narcotics. The powdery substance and the liquid substance in the syringes tested positive for heroin, according to the report.
Morrow was placed under arrest and taken to the police station for booking. She was still being held Friday in the Lake County Jail on $3,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on June 1.
