A Leesburg woman is accused of pawning jewelry and gold coins belonging to a Yalaha woman she provided home care for and using the money to pay bills.
Robin Ann Blow, 53, of 505 Remann Road, was charged with 10 counts each of dealing in stolen property and providing false owner information to a pawn broker.
The victim told a Lake County sheriff’s deputy on March 21 she was released from Advent Health Waterman on Feb. 7. She said she needed in-home car 24/7. The victim said she contacted a friend known only as Julie to provide in-home health care, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said Julie hired Blow and an unidentified woman known only as Debbie to care for her. She said Blow was at the house most of the time caring for her, the report said.
The victim said the last day of employment for all three was March 1. She said on March 21 she went to get a piece of jewelry and discovered multiple items of jewelry and her gold coins were missing. The victim said the items were stored in four Tupperware containers, which she stored in two separate closets in the hallway between the kitchen and living room, according to the report.
The victim said the containers had to be physically pulled out of the small closets, were gone through, and the most expensive items removed. The approximate value of the jewelry taken was $30,000, the report said.
The investigation revealed that Blow pawned most of the jewelry at Value Pawn in Leesburg and a few items at Pat’s Pawn and Gun in Leesburg. Evidence included pawn forms and video from the stores. Deputies responded to Blow’s home, where she admitted to taking the victim’s jewelry and pawning it. She said she used all the money she received to pay bills, according to the report.
Blow was arrested April 9 and taken to the Lake County Jail. She was released Wednesday on $35,000 bond and will appear in Lake County Court on May 3.
