Lake County firefighters came to the aid of a baby owl that had fallen from its nest recently. Firefighters called the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland for help and were told to put the baby owl back in the tree as close to the nest as possible so the mother owl – she was watching the entire incident from high above – could take care of it.

A Good Samaritan had noticed the displaced owl and called for help. The caller had placed in the injured bird in a box while waiting for the fire crew to arrive.

After arriving at the incident, firefighters contacted the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland. They were told to put the owl on a tree branch as close to the nest as possible and the mother owl – who watched the entire rescue from high above – would get her baby back into the next.
