Leesburg woman jailed after spat outside recording studio

A Leesburg woman was arrested after she reportedly attacked her children’s father when he started videoing her vandalizing his vehicle outside a local recording studio.

Malaysia Armani Mitchell, 23, of 1630 Little Harbor Pointe Apt. 104, was charged with simple battery and criminal mischief with damage over $1,000 after the incident, which happened Sunday night at Bricks Studio, 2501 W. Main St.

The victim told a Leesburg Police officer he was recording music at around 7 p.m. when he received a text message from Mitchell that said she would be stopping by the studio. He said he and Mitchell had argued earlier in the day over their arrangement for custody of their children, according to the police report.

The victim said he walked outside at around 7:30 p.m. and saw Mitchell spraying the hood of his vehicle with green paint. He said when Mitchell saw him, she got into her vehicle and started to leave, but she made a U-turn in the parking lot and returned to the victim’s vehicle and started hitting the hood with a hammer, the report said.

The victim said he grabbed his cell phone and started recording Mitchell striking his vehicle. He said when he started recording, Mitchell attacked him by striking him in the head and upper shoulder. The victim said he got away from Mitchell and she got into her vehicle and left, according to the report.

The victim estimated the damage to his vehicle was about $3,000. There were no visible marks or injuries on him. A studio employee who witnessed part of the incident told the officer he didn’t see Mitchell damaging the vehicle, but he did see her strike the victim multiple times, the report said.

The officer observed the video of Mitchell attacking the victim. He arrested her at her home at 12:22 a.m. Monday, according to the report.

Mitchell was taken to the Lake County Jail, where she was released Tuesday afternoon on $4,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on March 22.
