Roger Lee Blackbourn

Roger Blackbourn

Roger Lee Blackbourn, 73, of Leesburg, FL formerly of Cuba City, WI passed away November 22, 2020. Roger was born February 26, 1947 in Prairie du Chein, WI, son to the late Ivan & Margaret (Willard) Blackbourn.

Roger graduated from West Grant High School and enlisted in The United States Coast Guard, where he spent four years serving his country. In 1969, Roger married Regina “Jean” Nivarel in Bagley, WI. After the Coast Guard, he was employed for John Deere Dubuque Works, Dubuque, IA. After retiring in 2001, Roger & his wife Jean traveled as “work campers” where they visited many locations such as St. Petersburg, FL, Las Vegas, NV, Oklahoma, Indian Rocks Beach, FL and their destination of Mid-Florida Lakes, Leesburg, FL.

Roger was an avid Green Bay Packers & Wisconsin Badgers fan; you could often find him on Saturday & Sundays yelling at the TV if they were not performing the way he thought they should be. Roger was a simple man with a deep love for his family. Roger was an intelligent, hard-working man. His love for woodworking was displayed well, as Jean would have many things around the house that Roger had made. Whether it was an incredible bookshelf or a simple doll swing. Roger also loved to fish, which was a special memory for him that he shared with his mother, Margaret.

His family & friends will miss him beyond measure. We are grateful that he will be forever in our hearts.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Regina “Jean” Blackbourn, daughter, Rae Marie (Thomas) Woodward, son, Bradley (Camy) Blackbourn, grandchildren, Alyssa, Autumn, Abby, & Carly. Great-grandson, Logan. Step-grandchildren, Audrey (Joe) Vogt, Michael Woodward, & Lizabeth Woodward. Step great-grandchildren, Carson, Aria, Kamden, & J. Sawyer. Also, several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan & Margaret (Willard) Blackbourn, a brother, David, his In-laws, Walter & Sylvia Ready, a brother-in-law Walter “Opie” Ready, Jr,& two nephews, Cory & Steven Uher. Also, his two beloved pups, Sir Winston & Yo-Yo.
