A 16-year-old Leesburg High School student who recently was involved in a “huge” fight that left another student with severe injuries was arrested in Marion County on Monday.
Theodore Lamar McNealy, who lives in the 1500 block of Crest Avenue in Leesburg, was jailed on outstanding Lake County warrants for aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and burglary of a dwelling without consent. He was being held Tuesday on no bond.
McNealy originally was arrested Nov. 10 after a Leesburg Police officer serving as the school’s resource officer was contacted by an assistance principal after the fight broke out. McNealy wasn’t identified until a video of the incident surfaced after school hours.
The victim in the fight was diagnosed with a fractured skull and a brain bleed and was transferred from UF Health Leesburg Hospital to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville. No further information about him was available Tuesday.
The video of the fight was located on social media by an assistant principal a few hours after the incident. It showed the victim on the ground and McNealy on top of him allegedly hitting him with a closed fist. The video also showed McNealy getting off the victim and kicking him in the head, a Leesburg Police report states.
