William W Minckler Jr., 90, Malone, New York formerly from Lyon Mountain and Leesburg, Florida, passed away Wednesday October 28,2020, at the Alice Center. He was born February 6, 1930 in Lyon Mountain NY, the son of William and Myrtle (Atkinson) Minckler.
Bill graduated from Lyon Mountain High School in 1950. He then worked in the Republic Steel Mines as a diamond driller. Bill was later drafted into the Army in 1951 where he served in the 25th Infantry Division during the Korean War where he fought in several major battles. Bill was honorably discharged in 1952. He then went to work at Georgia Pacific in Plattsburgh until getting on with the Clinton County Highway Dept. for 33 yrs. After retirement in 1992 he and Pat moved to Leesburg, Florida from 1993-2007.
Bill was predeceased by his parents; one son Russel Minckler; six brothers Harold (Margie) Minckler, Howard “Joe” (Emaline) Minckler, Ross “Bosco” (Tina) Minckler, Henry “Ronnie” (Theresa) Minckler, Warren “Pet” (Evyeline) Minckler, Donald “Red” (Margie) Minckler; two sisters Margie (Hank) Stanton and Eleanor (Frasier) Stanton as well as sister in law Jean Minckler.
Bill is survived by his wife of 62yrs Patricia (Vincent) Minckler. They were married May 24th, 1958 at St. Joesph’s Church in Dannemora. Two sons Larry (Joyce) Minckler of Chazy Lake, and Scott (Fran) Minckler of Ocala, Florida, one daughter Lori (Dale) Labarge of Lyon Mountain, one brother Charles of Edwards NY, one sister Anne Hatfield of Kissimmee Florida, sister-in-laws Theresa Minckler and Evyeline Minckler, daughter-in-law Penny LeClair, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bill loved spending time with his family, rabbit hunting, fishing,camping and traveling. He also loved his many pets to include his last one Bandit.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Page Theus Funeral Home in Leesburg, Florida.
