Speeding vehicle slams into parked Leesburg fire engine at crash scene

Leesburg firefighters escaped injury early Saturday morning when a vehicle slammed into a ladder truck that had responded to an earlier crash.

This Leesburg Fire Rescue ladder truck was heavily damaged early Saturday morning when a vehicle crashed into it at an accident scene on County Road 44. The driver was transported to a local hospital but no firefighters were injured in the incident.

The crew from Ladder 63 was working the accident scene with one lane of traffic open on County Road 44 when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed attempted to go around the crash, a report states.

The vehicle then collided with the backside of Ladder 63 and rolled over. The driver, who wasn’t identified Sunday, was treated for injuries and transported to a local hospital.

The driver of this heavily damaged vehicle was injured early Saturday morning when he crashed into a Leesburg Fire Rescue ladder truck that was at the scene of an earlier crash on County Road 44.
