Two airlifted from Leesburg crash that sent Corvette driver to jail on DUI charge

Two victims were airlifted from a traffic crash in Leesburg late Wednesday night that also sent a motorist to jail on a DUI charge.

The crash, which occurred around 10 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 27 at Singletary Park, involved at least three vehicles. The driver of a Chevrolet Corvette is believed to have caused the incident and was arrested for driving under the influence. That’s driver’s name hasn’t yet been released.

Two of the crash victims were flown to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions weren’t available late Thursday afternoon.

U.S. Hwy. 27 was closed in both directions for at least two hours following the incident. Traffic was diverted around the crash scene onto County Road 25A.

Multiple officers from the Leesburg Police Department responded to the crash, along with units from the Leesburg Fire Department and ambulances from Lake EMS.
