Secret Service agents, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and Leesburg Police officers swarmed a home in a Leesburg subdivision on Monday morning.
The agents were carrying out a federal warrant related to financial fraud at a home located at 2212 Aitkin Loop in the Overlook at Lake Griffin subdivision. A Secret Service spokesman said he couldn’t release any other details Tuesday morning, but it was confirmed that no one was home at the time of the raid, which took place shortly before 11 a.m.
The agents and law enforcement officers roared into the subdivision in a variety of marked and unmarked vehicles and were heavily armed with assault-style rifles. They quickly descended on the house and then spent a little more than an hour going through the items in the residence.
The names of the occupants of the 1,483-square-foot house weren’t released, but it is believed that a woman in her forties or fifties lives there with a teenage male, who often sits on the porch in front of the home in the late afternoon hours. Neighbors said they haven’t lived in the home very long.
The residence, which has housed several families in recent years, is owned by American Homes 4 Rent, a foreign limited-liability company based in Nevada. The company’s mailing address is in Agoura Hills, Calif., according to the Lake County Property Appraiser’s website.
