A Leesburg man died of injuries suffered early Wednesday morning in a crash in Sumter County.
Richard Dale Neely, 68, had been at the wheel of a 2014 Ford Fiesta at 12:24 a.m. eastbound on East County Road 470 when his vehicle was struck head-on by a 2015 Nissan Altima driven by 37-year-old Robert Jason Headley, 37, of Ocala, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Â
Headley’s vehicle had been traveling westbound in the eastbound lane, the report indicated. Neely’s vehicle struck a fence.
Neely was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Headley suffered serious injury and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
